TRANSITION TO ORGANIC PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM (TOPP)

The Southeast Transition to Organic Partnership Program (SE TOPP) is part of a national effort by USDA to increase organic farming in the US.  SE TOPP supports farmers in the Southeastern US who are interested in transitioning to organic production, and provides ongoing assistance to existing organic producers.  By offering mentorship, technical assistance, and wrap-around support, this program plays a vital role in promoting organic farming in the our region.
____________

Organic Louisiana is a cooperative effort by the Louisiana Small Scale Agriculture Coalition (LSSAC) and led by coalition members Louisiana Central, Market Umbrella, and Sprout Nola.  Jointly we are rolling out this SE TOPP program statewide to support and encourage increased use of organic and sustainable growing practices for specialty crop, fruit, and vegetable producers in Louisiana.

LSSAC is a statewide coalition that works to ensure equitable opportunities for small-scale agriculture in Louisiana.  The coalition’s members provide comprehensive technical assistance to farmers and LSSAC member organizations have deep roots in Louisiana agriculture.

Our state's farmers hard work both in and out the field deserve the credit for the work we are doing now and for the long journey we have already trod.  Organic Louisiana will support and expand on the incredible work that has already been done by the farmers in our communities throughout the state.
____________

The TOPP Mentorship Program –  facilitates connections and provides support to both experienced organic producers and producers in the process of transitioning to organic farming. The program aims to build a strong network of organic producers and ensure a smooth transition for those seeking organic certification.

By fostering mentorship relationships between experienced organic producers and those transitioning to organic farming, the TOPP Mentorship Program creates a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration within the organic farming community. This program not only facilitates a smoother transition process for producers but also strengthens the network of organic producers across the country.
